Well, a lot actually has happened since I last wrote, I’ve just been too lazy to actually write.  I’m basically done with my classes now, as I dropped my final one because it was just…ridiuclous. Masters work for an undergraduate ELECTIVE? No thanks.

So, earlier this week I stayed at Vanessa’s house in Stockholm and we worked out our final paper for “Image, Identity & New Media”. I’m really pleased with how it turned out! If we get anything less than an A I’m going to be super upset.  But, it wasn’t all work and no play…well it kind of was but haha.  Anyway, we went to the park with her son and it was actually a lot of fun. He’s opened up to me a lot compared to a week or so ago when I went to visit her. So, while Vanessa talked with her friend I just took Oscar around to see some of the animals. He’s really a well-behaved kid and quite amusing haha. But, a strange thing about Sweden is that they have a petting zoo at the park and anyone can go! No paying to go pet and see the chickens, rabbits, sheep, goats, etc. It’s strange~! But, so nice. Another thing I noticed that there were lots of toys by a sandbox and no one seemed around so i was like, “Why would someone just leave their stuff?” and Vanessa told me that it’s community toys. Kids can play with them there but they leave them there at the end of the day. I know if those same toys were at a park at home they would be jacked that night.

Aaand now onto better stories! Last night was Valborg (April 30th) Find out more here. I’ve never seen so many people in one place in all my life, especially not in Uppsala. Basically Uppsala is infamous for being THE place to be for Valborg, so how lucky for me to live here? We planned on the 29th to get up at 8 for Champagne breakfast, which Sanna and I did but everyone else slept in or started making it to the kitchen around 8:30~9 which was fine. Even Jonatan came back from Katorsgatan to be there. Keke~ Fun.

After breakfast Sanna, Jonatan and I walked to ICA Maxi and Systembolaget to pick up some stuff for the day. I even bought a little blue blanket to sit on which by the end of the day was not such a good idea because the fuzzies got all over my shirt when I wrapped it around me at night because it was chilly. Cruel!

After that we headed to Ekonomikum Parken which was crowded something serious! There was hardly any place to get, so we picked one of the side areas which hadn’t been claimed yet~ We could still see grass there! Woohoo.  Sanna’s friend also showed up so we hung around there for awhile and drank a little. But, we were hungry by then as well, since it was around lunch time. Sooo all of us got out things and went to Pinocchio to pick up some pizza and kebab. On the way there though we passed a place that was selling balloons. Quite amusing little place, I had been wondering where everyone kept getting these random pegasus and ladybug balloons. So Sanna’s friend bought a blue elephant and off we went to Pinocchio.  After that we migrated with our food to Sanna’s friend’s friend’s apartment place(?) and sat outside and ate our food and just enjoyed the sun. It was surprisingly clear yesterday which made for a great day in my opinion! 😀

Theeen we eventually migrated to the river, which is where we should’ve gone all along! I love sitting by the river haha.

Unfortunately all of the stores and stuff are closed so we went from the river allll the way to the train station just to get coffee and use the restroom. It stinks that you have to pay to use restrooms SOMETIMES here, or that there aren’t just little places around to use them, especially on a day like this. The queues were heug. When we left Jonatan went to get some coffee and Sanna and I went back to the river, kind of sucks that I definitely could feel the blisters on the balls of my feet by then because of all the walking that day. But anyway, before we got to our spot at the river again, Jonatan somehow caught up with us. How he managed to go get coffee and still catch up with us is beyond me. Speed zombie is what we’ve decided. Speaking of which, that was definitely the convo of the day. I think Jonatan and I spent a good 10 mins during the whole day just on zombie talk. Haahaha~

Anyway we drank a bit more, chatted and even Suyin showed up! 😀 So after that we walked back to Flogsta and met with some corridormates and all that fun stuff. I noticed then that I had a lovely sunburn on my arms and since I was wearing half-sleeves it will be…attractive Im sure. Hopefully not too dark. Also got burnt a bit on my face, but whatever! So we all hung around until we were allll so tired that we had to go pass out in our beds.

Now I need to get Sanna to send me her pictures from the day so I can upload them too. 😀

Yesterday was eventful, to say the least.  The day started for me at 6am because I had a politics exam in some unknown building.  So, I rode the bus there because it was so cold and rainy.  Unfortunately it started off pretty bad.  I got on bus 2 (Flogsta bus) and had to catch bus 14 at Stadhuset which would take me to Gimogatan, where the exam was.  Well, as we’re pulling up the the Stadhuset, I see bus 14 already at the bus stop.  I probably would have made it if we didn’t get stuck at a traffic light, because by the time I got from the bus stop to the other bus stop, the bus was already gone.  So, I had to wait like 15 minutes, it’s good that I planned to arrive 30 minutes before my exam, which ended up being only 10 or so minutes in the long run because of bus drama.

So, the exams are set up really strange here.  You’re in this huge room with people from all sorts of classes, and not just politics.  At Purdue the only large room exam I had was in Elliot for exams like math where multiple math classes were there.  Here there were some math students and other kinds, at least this is what I think because they had calculators and stuff.  You’re lined up vertically with this huge table to yourself, yes table, not desk.  So for example, everyone in my class was in front of me, which I think is a good idea, you can’t cheat off of someone who is directly in front of you, I don’t know why we don’t do something like that at Purdue.

You’re also allowed to bring food and drinks with you.  Almost every student had some form of food or drink, lots of people with energy drinks like red bull and all.  I didn’t bring anything, because I just wanted to write my exam and get out.  So, the only thing I brought to my table was my pencil and ear plugs.  I can’t take an exam without them because just someone sniffling or coughing would throw me off, let alone here where you could probably hear people popping cans and opening sandwiches, etc etc…

Hannah was the first in my class to finish, and technically I was 2nd.  The exam started at 8 and I got done at 10:10 (exam lasted until 11) but I didn’t know what to do so I got up after Jon left so I could see the process of turning in exams and crap haha, that was about 5~10 minutes later.  The exam was so long though.  I had to answer 3 out of 5 questions and the first questions took me 4 pages to write, the 2nd took me one and a half and the 3rd took me two. Inteeense~

After the exam I sat out in the waiting room with Suyin and we waited for Per to finish and talked with others from our class about it.  General consensus was annoyance that the “exam topics” that were written on the site weren’t mentioned really at all in the exam, good thing I studied extra haha.

After the exam from hell, so much stress from that, Per and I went to the book store to get our “Latino Reader” for our next class while Suyin went into town I think to get more stuff for her costume.  We all eventually met up and yeah, hung out for a bit aaand then Per left us to go back to Stockholm.  He said he might come back for the party thingy, but he didn’t and I don’t blame him.  Yesterday was SO cold and it was sooo windy and rainy and just no good!

After we split Suyin and I went to Ekonomikum where I had to go talk with the communications guy and get registered for spring courses. We had a little dilemma because apparently for fall I’m only registered for one class?  How does that work?  I’ll e-mail them and find out, it doesn’t make sense though because for my 2 classes other than the one I was registered for, I was on their attendance sheet, so I’m obviously in the system somewhere. Sooo yeah~  This new guy wants me to send him my transcript from Purdue to make sure I’ve had communication classes before (obviously have) and also my acceptance letter to Uppsala.  I don’t really understand why, but okay.

After that I came back to my room and ate some lunch, had nice shower times, and just lounged around a bit before leaving for the party later.  A guy woke me up the day before coming into my room to begin painting.  Well my bathroom didn’t really need painted in my opinion, so he was there at like 7 or 8 something that day in the morning and said he’d be back later that day, and never did, and thus my bathroom was a disaster. But! He came back yesterday while I was examing and stuff and so my bathroom is nice and painted, though he still left it a disaster my curtain was down and just…I dunno I was annoyed.  I’m not exactly tall so it was a bit of a task to hang up my curtain AGAIN after he took it down. -_-;  And the paint fumes are awful, but hopefully they’ll go away soon.

Next is the treat part of the night!  Halloween party~!

I went over to Lisa and Peter’s at  around 6:40ish and got ready there along with Suyin and Sailormoon (I’m sorry I’m so bad at remembering new names, but that’s who she went as! It amused me!)  Then we were off to the clubhouse thingy and yes!

Jenny and Me @ Halloween Shindig~

Jenny and Me @ Halloween Shindig~

It was a lot of fun~  Mucho dancing and amusing costumes!  I don’t think I’ve even really gone to a Halloween thingy back in the states as big as this, and Swedes don’t even really “do” Halloween, but they were the ones who hosted this party, so I was amused to say the least.  Yummy chocolate brownies and other desserts.  So yummy!

There were also these disgusting shot things.  I did try one because Peter, Josefin, etc.. insisted.  It was awful.  They said it was made with pumpkin stuff, but it tasted more like vomit.  I didn’t taste alcohol at all, only nasty mushed not-pumpkin stuff. It is quite possibly the worst thing I have ever tasted.  I kept feeling it want to come up so I had to go yoink a chocolate brownie ASAP.  I don’t know how Julia, Peter and Josefin did them more than once.  Especially Peter, I don’t know how many he did, but they were so nasty.  I think he secretly liked them.

There was also much dancing to “Time Warp” from Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I’ve never seen, but you can bet that I know that song and dance now!  We also played musical chairs to a spice girls song which was entertaining, I lost.  It was sad. Haha~

But yes, generally fun and chaotic.  I started to crash by the end though due to lack of sleep. But, apparently not enough for me to just go home after the party ended.

I went to Lisa and Peter’s and we played some Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart.  I was definitely not on my game again, but I still kinda sorta rocked Melee, but man where have my Mario Kart skills gone?  Not fair!

It also apparently snowed yesterday as well, I saw snow in the grass but I only saw rain fall yesterday, so I won’t count that as the first snow until I see it falling from the sky.  But yes, I walked home in the freezing darkness, but those legging-things were actually pretty warm!  Aaand yes almost as soon as I got home I talked to people online a bit, but generally crashed in bed.

The end!

This afternoon I ended up spending several hours in the kitchen again talking to corridormates. Mostly Jonatan, but also Jesper and Alex.  I don’t know why, but when that happens, it’s like…one of my favorite parts of the day haha~  So, Jesper let me use his left over spaghetti for lunch so I didn’t have to make my own! =9 Yumyum~ It was all healthy and whole wheat too. (Not that it matters, I totally counter-acted that later) But yeah~  Stayed in the kitchen after that and talked with Jonatan a bit who ended up drawing all over the place; on newspapers, himself, and then me. Lol~  I should know better than to let people write stuff on me, because for some reason pen ink is always so hard to get off my skin! ><  But yeah, he was all “So, do you want matching best friend tattoos?” and I was amused so I said yeah. So, we all had “BFF” written on our wrists.  Such dorks~ XD

At around 7:30 I went over to Jenny’s for the “shrimp & wine party”. Though, there was no wine.  Which is fine with me, because I don’t like alcohol.  The alcohol-free cider was yummyummy though!  So was the shrimp, until I got…a PREGNANT one!  What the heck is it with me and getting pregnant seafood?  This happened in Las Vegas too with the crayfish.  Freaking nasty! :<  So I ripped off it’s head and was all, “This feels more squishy that the others.” Then I looked at it’s underside and noticed tons of little red balls, that looked like caviar balls. NASTY.  So I was like “aaaghhh!!” and put it down. @_@;  Jenny yoinked it and took off the eggs and ate it though.  I can’t play that game, at least it wasn’t as bad as the green egg stuffs on the crayfish in Vegas. Other than that we also had bread, carrots and brownies.  I swear these girls are gonna cause me to gain all the weight I’ve lost back!  Especially this winter where I’ll be uh…not as active because it’ll be so cold!

We’re also talking about getting costumes for the halloween party. I think everyone has theirs picked out, but I don’t.  I’m so indecisive and the ones I want I can’t get because I guess they won’t ship some of the wings. :< Buuu!  But yeah I need to find something at http://www.bodega.se sometime soon.  But, what?!
